Coraline Console

Began with an observation rather than a form. It grew from an interest in how coral develops through continuous adaptation to its surroundings, where accumulation, pressure, and time gradually shape structure. These observations are translated into sculptural form, exploring the forces that shape transformation rather than the forms they leave behind.

Developing Coraline required moving beyond the sketch into an extended process of experimentation in Beirut. Through casting, repeated trials, and handcraft, the piece was continually refined as each stage revealed new possibilities in proportion, surface, and material. Instead of pursuing complete uniformity, subtle variations that emerged through the making process were preserved, becoming integral to the character of the work.

The cast brass doors rest on a hand-finished base built through successive layers of mineral aggregate and custom patinas. Together, these elements create a surface shaped through process, where the evidence of making remains inseparable from the finished object.
