Rift Side Table
Part of the Rift series, the side table continues an exploration of shoreline stone formations shaped through erosion and the slow passage of time. Rather than focusing on fracture as an isolated moment, the piece considers how material is continuously reshaped, where every shift becomes part of a longer process of formation.
Cast in aluminum with reclaimed stone fragments gathered from residual sources, the work was developed through repeated casting, surface studies, and hand-applied patinas. The smaller scale brings the textures and embedded fragments into closer focus, allowing subtle variations in depth, surface, and finish to become more intimate and immediate.
Its compact form carries the same dialogue between solidity and void that defines the Rift series, revealing how pressure, erosion, and material memory can be expressed at different scales while remaining part of the same evolving landscape.
